After reviewing the examples and the last email from Jen I am changing my. My will be on being a grandmother. I remember going to my grandmothers in the summer and we would walk to the store with her and she would buy us kites to fly. My memories with my grandmother are a good and warm feeling, I enjoyed being with her. My present would be me being a grandmother and making my own grandchildren feel the same way my grandmother made me feel. My future would be having my child care center to be able to make other children feel the same way. I am grandmother to many children and I love it because I can love and spoil them and then send them home to their parents.

Sexting
Cell phones are not what they used to be, therefore they are not used just for talking to ones loved ones and friends. They have become a way for people to communicate in different ways. They are now used to text, to send and receive email, send and receive pictures and videos, to get information from the news, and for entertainment especially by teens.
The first cell phone was used in Sweden by the police in 1946. They were not very efficient; they could only use it for 6 calls before it drained the car’s battery. In 1947 D.H. Ring, from Bell Labs, started the technology of modern cell phones. By 1967 mobile phone technology was accessible; you just were not able to use them very far without losing your call. In 1970, an engineer at Bell Labs, by the name of Amos Edward Joel developed a system called the “call handoff system”; this allowed you to make calls from one area to another. It was not until 1971 that AT&T that made their request to the FCC for cellular service, however it was not approved until 10 years later. The first portable cell phone was unveiled in 1983 by Motorola, it was the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, it took them 15 years for it to be affordable to the public. (techFAQ)
Cell phones are everywhere, work, school, transportation, just about anywhere we go. It is the one thing we do not leave behind. The sad thing is that teens are using the cells phones more and more. They have even created their own language to communicate with each other, first so that their parents do not understand what they are saying and secondly to be able to text each other faster. Their language is just using first letters of the word, leaving out letters or even using numbers to stand for different words. There are now web sites where parents can go to and find out what the numbers mean and what the spelling to different words mean, netlingo.com is one of them, these are some of the examples: 143=I love you, 4COL=for crying out loud, 9=parent watching, AAF=as a friend and A/S/L/P=age/sex/location/picture. (The Larges List of Text Message Shorthand (IM, SMS) and Internet A....) In some states, stores like Wal-Mart even put up posters letting parents know what they need to look for. As people catch on to what the language means they go back in and change it again. This has also affected the students in their spelling because they have gotten so used to using their made up language they forget how to use the real English language.
Schools have to watch students to make sure they are not using their phones instead of doing their school work. Even worse they have to make sure students are not using their phones when they are taking exams to text each other answers, the new way of cheating on exams.
Teens also use their camera phones to take pictures of things happening around them. They are taking inappropriate pictures of themselves and sending them to boyfriends or girlfriends and when they break up they end up sending the ones they have received to everyone they know or even posting them on the internet for everyone in the world, this of course is hurting them. In a Pennsylvania high school six students are facing child pornography charges after three girls took nude or semi-nude pictures of themselves and shared them with other male classmates. The authorities decided to file the charges to send a message to other students about sending pictures of this kind. “"It's very dangerous," he said."Once it's on a cell phone, that cell phone picture can be put on the Internet where everyone in the world can get access to that juveniles’ picture. They don't realize what they are doing until it's already done." (Seranko could not be reached for comment on Thursday, and a woman who answered the phone at the Greensburg Police Department said, “Our department is not doing any more interviews on the case.”) But Patrick Artur, a Philadelphia defense attorney who, by his reckoning, has handled at least 80 child pornography cases, said the prosecution of minors for photos they took themselves runs counter to the purpose of both state and federal child pornography laws: Preventing the sexual abuse of children by “dirty old men in raincoats.” (Brunker) The law for sexting in New Mexico can be a felony charge, to include: creation, possession, and distribution of child pornography. The law in the United States is that it is against the law to possess lewd photographs of minors. A lawyer in New York is petitioning for federal sexting legislation to make sexting a misdemeanor for minors. (Hoyos)
“The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy reported last month that a survey of 1,280 teens and young adults found that 20 percent of the teens said they had sent or posted nude or semi nude photos or videos of themselves. That number was slightly higher for teenage girls — 22 percent — vs. boys — 18 percent.” (Brunker)
Cell phones have the capability to access the internet so it is now easier for them to get on line. They get on to check their email, put pictures on line, go to MySpace, Facebook, download ringtones and games, so now they do not even need a computer. Problems begin when girls break up with their boyfriends and they have given them pictures of themselves. The boys usually end up posting the pictures on the internet to share with others. In Ohio, a girl committed suicide after her boyfriend shared the pictures she had sent to him with some girls and the girls teased her and called her names. Sadly, the girl stopped going to school, became depressed, and ended up hanging herself. The officials at Sycamore High School were aware of the harassment but not enough was done to stop it, they told the girl that the only thing they could do was talk to the girls who had the pictures, tell them to delete them, and not to speak to her again. Her mom wanted to talk to the parents but her daughter felt it would only make it worse. “She said, ‘No, I need to do something else. I’m going to go on the news, feeling that if the public was made aware of what was happening it might prevent another girl from being put in the same situation. So, that is exactly what she did. Unfortunately, going public didn’t help her already low self esteem, and two months later she hung herself. It did not end there, one of the girls friends also committed suicide after attending her friends funeral. Now it is not just criminal charges being filed on teens it is becoming a matter of life and death. (Celizic)
Teens are texting so good that they can hold a conversation and text at the same time. They eat and text, they watch television and text, and they even drive and text, that is how obsessed they have become with texting. To them it is like typing was a few years ago to their parents. It is becoming so dangerous that in some states it is against the law to drive and text or drive while talking on the cell phone. People’s lives have been lost because someone was busy trying to read or write a text instead of paying attention to the road and their driving. This has resulted in fatal car accidents; sadly as is too often the case; the other person is the innocent victim. Teens are at an age that they feel they are indestructible, and they know better than every one else. They do not realize that when they post pictures or any other information on the internet that the pictures are there for anyone to get. That when they use their cell phone for everything besides talking, that they are endangering themselves and others. They think that no one gets hurt when they send nude or semi nude pictures of themselves to their boyfriends or girlfriends because as with any young love they may believe that the person they are with is the “one”. They might not get hurt at that moment, but when that relationship ends, someone is going to get hurt. Hopefully, it does not result in the cost of a life, but again, we have already seen that happen. Teens do not realize that when they do something it has a domino affect, it not only affects themselves and the other person, it also affects their families and friends. What is it going to take, or how do we make teens understand, the damage it costs everyone when cell phones are misused? For them not to take pictures of each other and send them out is what it would take for it to stop, but the real question remains, “How Do We Make That Happen”?

Scrapbooking the future
I will be doing my scrapbook on children, "Children are our Future", from a teachers view. My visual argument will be on my past, I was the middle child, my sister got spoiled because she was the firstborn and my brothers were spoiled because they were younger (and boys). I own a child care center and all the children there are mine. I love all of them and try to make their experience the best it can be while they are there. They are our future and we are the ones that build their foundation for that future. Kids need to be given the chance to be kids. If given lots of TLC, and guidance, they will grow up to be responsible caring adults.

I am still doing mine of cell phones. I am just changing my topic, it will be on sexting and teen. How teens are using their cells phones to talk to each other by using their own made up language and how they are taking inappropriate pictures of each other and sharing it with others. How dangerous it is for them to do this, how some teens have gone to jail for this and have even killed themselves because their pictures got in the wrong hands and then other teens giving them a hard time.

Cell phones are everywhere, work, school, transportation, and any where we go. It is the one thing we do not leave behind. The sad thing is that they are being misused many times. People use their camera phones to take pictures of things happening around them. These pictures are then sent to other people or to the newscast, and they in turn air the pictures or other people send them on to other people. People are taking inappropriate pictures of themselves and sending them to boyfriends or girlfriends and when they have problems they end up sending the ones they have received to everyone they know or even posting them on the internet for everyone in the world, this of course is hurting people.

Cell Phone texting and camera
I want to do mine on using your cell phones for texting and the camera.
My argument is the misuse of this, the danger of texting and driving, taking inappropriate pictures of yourself and sending them by phone and people that you didn't even want to have them get them.
