ads

These are the two ads I have chosen.

Evel Knievel Toy tv commercial 1976

Because it is an ad that uses misrepresentation to children. They think that the toy can do everytnig that they show in the ad.

Zazoo Condoms:Little Boy

I chose this one because I thought it was a very good ad for condoms. It really makes you think, do I want to have unprotected sex and face the possible consequences?

    Hi again!
    I really like the second one. Its got a lot of great material, and I think that its got more potential as far as the ethos, pathos, and logos. The first one is neat as well though, because it deals a lot with the misinformation that advetisers use to sell a product. I personally like the second one better, but there is good stuff in both to produce a well put together essay.

    I think both of these ads could work for our Essay 1, but remember that you are not as interested in the message of the ad but rather how the ad relays that message. Essay 1 asks you to analyze the rhetorical choices made by the ad producers (use of appeals, use of color, music, characters, etc.) and how those choices succeed or fail in reaching the audience. Keep your focus on how the ad works, not what it wants you to do.
